The Show'n'shine

Get excited by the different EVs out there that others own
One of the best ways to see how many different types of EVs are around is to see what other people have. The Show'N'Shine is for people to showcase their own car and it is also for you to see what's possible. It could be anything from an electric assist bike that someone uses for grocery shopping. It might be a fully customised EV built from the ground up for a special purpose. It could even be someone's daily transport.
The Show'N'Shine lets you see a diversity of EVs you will not see elsewhere. To get a hint at what you will see, take a look at a selection of the current entrants below.

Runs a 48 volt 10kw 'Golden Motor' brush-less BLDC motor and controller driving through an original 4 speed manual gearbox via a chain drive.
It is still a work in progress with limited battery capacity and will be trailered to the event. I hope to meet other people who have experience with similar power-plants as I feel it is not running to its full potential

The special part is that now since, 19 Dec 2012, have driven past many petrol stations, without the need to stop!
The quite drive is a pleasure each time I drive it. My average daily commute is 27kms and charge via the solar array at home, so now I can also claim, it does cost me nothing to run.
Another main point is that, "the next generation like my son, is that they have been and will continue to be exposed, to that there are other ways to have mobility, that is clean and efficient be it a combination of solar, electric or hydrogen cells.

MY “BEV” PROJECT
By Bryan Drummond
“BEV” stands for Battery Electric Vehicle or in my case, Bryan’s Electric Vehicle. I’ve had a dream to build a BEV in my retirement phase, for the last few years. The search criteria was a small, 2 door coupe, light weight, manual transmission, small engine capacity and no networked electronic modules in the vehicle.
The Holden Barina, Model SB “City”, year 2000, manual 5 speed, 1.4 litre engine fits these criteria well.

Fun little car to drive, converted in my garage with no special tools, with lots of help from youtube and google. My inspiration was major car companies not producing entry level electric cars for the masses. This is real upcycling using 30 year old car converting to electric to give it a new lease of life. To maintain serenity the audio system was removed, this gave a place for the digital meter.
